Fleet Trailer Maintenance
 
General Description:
Ocean State Job Lot Distribution is currently seeking experienced applicants for a Fleet Trailer Maintenance position. Fleet Maintenance is responsible for a wide variety of maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance on various makes and models of trailers in an efficient, timely, accurate, professional and safe manner in accordance with all Company polices, DOT, OSHA, FMCSA and other regulations.
 
Essential Reponsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repair on OSJ cars, trucks and trailers, and using hand tools, power or pneumatic tools.
Perform preventive maintenance on company equipment such as tractors, straight-trucks, trailers and cars in compliance with the manufacturers' and company schedules. Perform Federal safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation.
Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance including: inspect and perform work in, on or under parts of vehicles and trailers.
Inspect and maintain protective guards, bolts, hangers and safety devices on trucks. Replace, or add gauges or lighting in instrument panels. Replace and adjust headlights; install and repair accessories, such as CB radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers. Rewire or install new lights, replace and adjust brakes, change or recharge batteries.
Apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), FMCSA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required.
INDOOR/OUTDOOR WORK: Individual selected is required to frequently perform work outdoors, at times in inclement weather. Work performed indoors with protections from weather conditions are conducted in above-or-below normal ambient temperatures.
Responsible for shop cleanliness, safety and compliance.
Participate in company training programs; perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum of two-years recent mechanical experience in general repair for commercial fleet operations, including trailer repair and preventative maintenance. Must have previous experience with suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics and basic welding.
Current ASE Certification desirable; Current Class A CDL required
Ability to safely walk & stand for extended periods of time; reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
Ability to lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally).
Must have a strong knowledge regarding the safe handling and operation of trailers, tractors, containers, forklifts, power jacks, power tools, trailer parts and supplies.
Must present a professional, highly motivated, positive, results oriented, problem solving attitude; position requires good communication skills.
Must be able to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Basic computer skills.
Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location.
